等离子体生物医学研究中心

等离子体生物医学研究中心是我国首个等离子体与医学交叉学科研究机构,隶属于西安交通大学电力设备电气绝缘国家重点实验室。中心于2012年5月成立,目标是经过未来2--3年的努力成为本领域重要的科学研究和人才培养基地,推动等离子体技术向临床医学应用发展。

现已组建等离子体与生物医学的交叉学科研究团队,在“学术特区”的管理模式下专注于科学研究和人才培养事业。我中心拥有实验用房350m2,包括等离子体工程实验室、等离子体诊断实验室、细胞培养室、微生物培养室、分子生物学检验室和消毒室等。我中心拥有一批先进的实验设备,包括光谱仪、质谱仪、电子自旋共振谱仪、流式细胞仪、激光共聚焦显微镜等。实验条件满足多学科交叉研究的需要。

目前,研究工作主要针对大气压冷等离子体的仿真与诊断、等离子体与水溶液相互作用、等离子体与皮肤组织(细胞)的相互作用、等离子体抗生素、等离子体癌症治疗等几个方面来展开。前期研究成果已经在ApplPhys Lett、J Phys D ApplPhys等国际知名期刊上发表,并在国际学术会议上作特邀报告多次。

Centre for Plasma Biomedicine (CPB) is the first plasma and medicine interdisciplinary research institute in China. The research center is affiliated to the XJTU State Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment. CPB was established in May 2012. Our team members aim to make effort to make the CPB becomes an important scientific research and personnel training base in the field of plasma medicine in the future two to three years, and make contributes in developing the plasma technology into medical applications.

Michael G Kong is the director of CPB. He  is one of the winners of the first International Plasma Medical Award. An interdisciplinary research team has been formed which would work under the academic zone management institution. CPB occupies a 350m2 experimental space, which is formed by a plasma engineering lab, a plasma diagnostic lab, a cell culture lab, a microbial culture lab, two biological analysis labs and a disinfection lab. As for the experimental condition, we are proud of having several advanced experimental facilities to meet the demand of multidisciplinary research, including spectrometer, mass spectrometer, electron spin resonance spectrometer, flow cytometer, laser scanning confocal microscope, etc.

Currently, the main research work is focused on the simulation and diagnostics of atmospheric-pressure cold plasmas, the interaction between plasma and liquids, the interaction between plasma and skin tissue (cells), and plasma antibiotics. The preliminary results have been published in some renowned journals like ApplPhys Lett, J Phys D ApplPhys, and so on. Several invited talks have been given in some international academic conferences, too.
