The federation of mass organizations

Since the first batch of students' mass organizations were set up in Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1902,under the care of the university's league committee, the students' mass organizations have become the second classrooms. They play an important role in enriching the students' after-class lives and raising the quality of the university's students. In order to guarantee the healthy and orderly development of the students' mass organizations, in 1996, the Communist Youth League Committee decided to set up special management committee in the university's students' union-the federation of the students' mass organization. In 1999, with the bigger scale of the students' mass organizations, our university decided to set up special management institution. In the same year, the federation of mass organization was separated from the students' union and it undertakes work independently. And in that year, the organization held the first seminar of the students' mass organizations----that is, the congress of the students' mass organizations later. Therefore, the federation of the students' mass organizations walks on the stage of managing the students' mass organizations really.

The basic functions of the federation of the students' mass organizations are:
 Obeys and carries out the education policy of the party, promote the students' all-round development in moral education, intellectual education and physical education, unites and leads the students to become the qualified talents who love motherland and satisfy the requirements of socialist modernization construction cause with Chinese characteristics;
 Relies on the carrier the students' mass organization, promotes the university's spiritual civilization construction and builds the second classroom into the important platform of the students' quality education;
 Fully brings the features of the students' mass organizations' such as mass and participation into full play, makes it become the important means of the student s to enrich campus culture, train interests and hobbies, take part in the university's activities, expand knowledge fields, train the capacity of social contact and enrich the internal world;
 Unites, coordinates, manages and serves the university's students' mass organizations of each kind and level, chooses the activity as the stage and promotes the rise of the whole level.

Students' union

China had the organization of the students' union since May 4 th movement. After the Beijing students' union was set up, the students of our university joined the branch of Shanghai students' union in order to support the students in Beijing, called the branch of students' union of Shanghai Nanyang Public University. The branch of the students' union of Nanyang Pubic University was the organization of all the students of our university. It had 4 departments: voluntary group, speaking group, investigation department and publishing department (later attribution section of picket department was set up temporarily).

In 1921, our university was reorganized. The students' union was renamed students' union of Shanghai School of Jiaotong University. In 1922, after the summer vacation, because our university was renamed, the students' union was renamed students' union of Nanyang University of Traffic Department. It consisted of two departments: implementation and evaluation. In July of 1927, our university was reorganized again, and the students' union of Nanyang University was renamed the students' union of the First Jiaotong University.

On Oct 4, 1923,"the Constitution of the Students' Union of Nanyang University of Traffic Department"was revised and promulgated. In January of 1924, business department was set up and "Business Department's Bylaw of the Students' Union of Nanyang University" was made. In March of 1925, the constitution of students' union was revised and turned the two sections: implementation and evaluation into executive committee. It consisted of the committee members elected by all the members. Lu Dingyi acted the committee member of executive committee in 1926. The new constitution of the students' union also stipulated that the work of all departments of the students' union should pay more attention to the propagation of political ideology (that is the revolutionary propagation during the secret period). At that time, the students' union had gradually become the center of the students' activities. The organization was more perfect and systematic.

On May 3, 1963, the students' union of our university held the15th students' representative meeting. It actively responded chairman Mao's great call and set off the high tide of studying Lei Feng among all the students of our university.

In 1982, the 22th students' representative meeting of our university's students' union passed "the Proposal of Obeying the Examination Disciplines". It called on all the students of our university to stop the phenomena of cheating in examinations, which made the examination atmosphere and discipline of our university greatly changed.

In 1993, the 14th Jiaotong University Star Entertainment Performance chose "motherland, future and I" as the topic, fully reflected the smell of the era, enlivened the cultural atmosphere of the campus and enriched the students' after-class lives.

In 1994, under the proposal of "Constructing Civilized Campus and Becoming Civilized Students", the best league date activity was undertaken. The subject was "Motherland, Campus and Wish", which greatly stimulated the warmth of all the students' in our university to love and construct our university and played an important role in all works.

Brief introduction to the graduate student's union of Xi'an Jiaotong University

The graduated students' union of Xi'an Jiaotong University is the biggest organization of graduate students of our university.

Its aim is to serve all the graduate students of Xi'an Jiaotong University wholeheartedly. Its establishment purpose is to hold activities related to the graduate students, smooth the dialogue and exchange between the graduate students and our university and society, solve the actual difficulties in graduate students' work, study and life and enrich the spare time cultural and physical life of the graduate students.

As the organization of highest level and greatest influence among all the mass organizations of the graduate students in our university, the graduate students' union of our university has 9 departments: office, propagation department, science and technology department, information department, art department, life department, practice department, physical education department and students' news agency and each institute has its own graduate students' union. All the departments of our university's graduate students' union do their own duties in promoting the academic exchange among the graduate students and between the graduate students and the outside, propagating and displaying the elegant demeanor of our university's graduate students, leading all the graduate students to practise and get jobs and enriching the cultural and physical lives of all the graduate students. Each department does its daily work independently and all of them exchange and coordinate mutually, unite and operate in the external activities and try to finish all the work together.

The graduate students' union of our university keeps extensive contact with each circle of the society. "The Summer Vacation Social Practice Activity of Graduate Students" is a relatively large activity. Each year it is held by the cooperation between the graduate students' union and our university. On the one hand, the activity enriched the graduate students' summer vacation lives and provides them more opportunities to touch the society, know the society and get adaptable to the society. On the other hand, it displays the bearing and quality of graduate student s in Xi'an University.

Since the graduate students' union of Xi'an Jiaotong University was set up, it is matured and strong gradually because of the efforts all the members. Now the graduate students' union of Xi'an Jiaotong university have held many rich and colorful activities, which strengthens the exchange between the teachers and students, between the students and between the universities. The efforts and performance are also extensively appreciated and generally praised. Meanwhile, the graduate students' union of our university has built close contact with the graduate students' unions of many universities, scientific and research institutions and famous enterprises.

The young graduate students' union of Xi'an Jiaotong University insists on serving all the graduate students. Meanwhile, it also hopes to get the care and support of all the graduate students;
