The Vocational Technique and Continual Education Institute of Xi'an Jiaotong University relies on the advantages of Xi'an Jiaotong University and actively undertakes vocational technique education, adult education, continual education and higher education self study test. In 1996, it was awarded the title "the Advanced Group of Higher Education Self Study Test". In 1997, it was awarded the title "The Excellent School of National Adults' Higher Education Evaluation". In 1998, it was awarded the titles like "the Demonstration School of Shaanxi Adults' Higher Education of Ordinary Institutions of Higher Learning's" and "Advanced Group of Vocational Education Work". For decades of years, the institute has trained tens of thousand of students for the society and they are deeply welcomed by the society. The Institute now has more than 300 teachers and staffs and over 15000 students. Its construction area is over 70000 m2. Besides the teaching facilities, labs and books of the university, the institute has 5 computer rooms that were built by itself, which have over 500 computers. It has 3 phonetics rooms. The library has over 200 thousand of books. The Institute has more than 40 specialties such as computer science and technology, mechanic engineering and automation, international economics and trade, clinical medicine, law, management of international enterprises, tourism management, construction engineering, finance and accounting. It has multiple school -running levels such as graduate students, undergraduates, undergraduates transferred form junior college students and junior college students and it has diversified school -running forms such as full -time, part time, correspondence and high school. The institute pays more attention to raising the teaching quality and contracting the teachers' team. It tries to change the educational concept, reform talent training pattern, actively carries out suggestopedia and discussion teaching to stimulate the students' awareness of independent thinking and innovation, which makes that while the students master necessary cultural knowledge, they have skillful vocational skills and the capacity to get adaptable to the vocational changes. The institute has sound teaching management institution and perfect teaching management rules and regulations. Most of the teachers are professors, associative professors and lecturers who have rich teaching experience, which lays firm foundation for the raising of teaching quality.
